IN THE STREAM OF TIME
Q Gallery Berlin is delighted to present the works of sculptor Peter Rosenzweig (Berlin) and painter Ulf Meyer-Wachsmuth (Bremen). Both artists are presenting their sculptures and paintings together for the first time in an exhibition. The two artists have a long history of artistic collaboration dating back to the 1990s. Back then, Peter Rosenzweig founded the renowned summer academy for sculpture and painting, Campo dell'Altissimo in Italy, and Ulf Meyer-Wachsmuth was one of the first lecturers in the field of painting. This partnership continues to this day. They have shown their work in numerous exhibitions and projects in various European countries. Now they are coming together to present their latest works as well as a selection from previous years at the Q Gallery in Berlin. Peter Rosenzweig's sculptures are the result of years of artistic exploration of stone as a material. They reflect not only respect for this ancient material, but also the fascinating variety of colours and shapes that the history of the earth holds. His works create an exciting interplay between nature, time and art, sometimes leaving the material untouched, sometimes working it and shaping it artistically. Time also plays a central role in Ulf Meyer-Wachsmuth's work. Everything begins with a fleeting impression - a glimpse of people, places or landscapes that he sketches and archives. Sometimes over months or years. What remains in his memory from these fragmentary notes is further processed using printmaking and digital techniques. This process enables the necessary distance and promotes selection and concentration, which only form the basis for his painting after this ‘preliminary work’. The result is series and variations that provide a unique view of the world. We cordially invite you to discover these fascinating works and experience the connection between nature, time and art in the exhibition.
